I don’t have much treasure 2   나 가진것은 없으나 2

What do you consider to be a successful life?  Becoming rich and famous?  Having a happy family?  Doing what you enjoy and making decent money?  Or at least having a roof over your head and not relying on others for financial support?  But what if this life is not the end, but only an opportunity to choose our eternal destiny?

당신은 어떤 인생이 성공한 인생이라고 생각하시나요?  부와 명성을 다 가지는것?  행복한 가정을 이루는것?  내가 좋아하는 일을 하면서 돈도 버는것?  아니면 남에게 손빌리지 않고 내스스로 번돈으로 집한채를 소유하는거?  만일 이 생이 다가 아니고 그저 나의 영원한 운명의 선택을 할수 있는 기회라면 어떻게 생각 하시겠습니까?

Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus

19Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. 20At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. 21As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.

22“Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet.e The rich man also died and was buried, 23and he went to the place of the dead.f There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.

24“The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’

25“But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. 26And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.’

27“Then the rich man said, ‘Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father’s home. 28For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment.’

29“But Abraham said, ‘Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.’

30“The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’

31“But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”  (Luke 16: 19-31)

19. "예전에 부자 한 사람이 있었는데 그는 화사하고 값진 옷을 입고 날마다 즐겁고 호화로운 생활을 하였다.
20. 그 집 대문간에는 사람들이 들어다 놓은 라자로라는 거지가 종기 투성이의 몸으로 앉아
21. 그 부자의 식탁에서 떨어지는 부스러기로 주린 배를 채우려고 했다. 더구나 개들까지 몰려와서 그의 종기를 핥았다.
22. 얼마 뒤에 그 거지는 죽어서 천사들의 인도를 받아 아브라함의 품에 안기게 되었고 부자는 죽어서 땅에 묻히게 되었다.
23. 부자가 죽음의 세계에서 고통을 받다가 눈을 들어보니 멀리 떨어진 곳에서 아브라함이 라자로를 품에 안고 있었다.
24. 그래서 그는 소리를 질러 '아브라함 할아버지, 저를 불쌍히 보시고 라자로를 보내어 그 손가락으로 물을 찍어 제 혀를 축이게 해주십시오. 저는 이 불꽃 속에서 심한 고통을 받고 있습니다.' 하고 애원하자
25.아브라함은 '얘야, 너는 살아 있을 동안에 온갖 복을 다 누렸지만 라자로는 불행이란 불행을 다 겪지 않았느냐? 그래서 지금 그는 여기에서 위안을 받고 너는 거기에서 고통을 받는 것이다.
26. 또한 너희와 우리 사이에는 큰 구렁텅이가 가로놓여 있어서 여기에서 너희에게 건너가려 해도 가지 못하고 거기에서 우리에게 건너오지도 못한다.' 하고 대답하였다.
27. 그래도 부자는 또 애원하였다. '그렇다면 할아버지, 제발 소원입니다. 라자로를 제 아버지 집으로 보내주십시오.
28. 저에게는 다섯 형제가 있는데 그를 보내어 그들만이라도 이 고통스러운 곳에 오지 않도록 경고해 주십시오.'
29. 그러나 아브라함은 '네 형제들에게는 모세와 예언자들이 있으니 그들의 말을 들으면 될 것이다.' 하고 대답하였다.
30. 부자는 다시 '아브라함 할아버지, 그것만으로는 안 됩니다. 그들은 죽었다가 다시 살아난 사람이 찾아가야만 회개할 것입니다.' 하고 호소하였다.
31. 그러자 아브라함은 '그들이 모세와 예언자들의 말도 듣지 않는다면 어떤 사람이 죽었다가 다시 살아난다 해도 믿지 않을 것이다.' 하고 대답하였다."

What a miserable way to end a life, Lazarus was sick, hungry, and rejected.  It seems like this man had failed and fell down to the lowest he can go, forsaken by everyone and maybe even God.  But Jesus gave a name to this man, Lazarus means ‘my God is Helper’ Lazarus, people might have avoided him while he lived but Lazarus trusted God till the end and entered into heaven’s celebration after his death.  The rich man who feasted while on earth ignored this man at his gate in need ended up in eternal torment.  

What we learn about the place of eternal torment is that 1. There is great thirst, and nothing to quench that thirst.  2.  There is a separation between heaven and hell that cannot be crossed.  3.  The rich man is so tormented and miserable he doesn’t want his brothers to join him there.  4.  In order to avoid going to a place of torment you have to repent of your sins and turn to God.  5.  Jesus says if they didn't listen to their prophets they wil not listen to someone who rose from the dead.

참으로 비참한 삶이지 않습니까?  라자로는 병들었고, 배고팠고, 버려졌습니다.  패배한 삶이고 더이상 낮아질수가 없습니다.  사람들뿐 아니라 하나님도 그를 버리지 않았을까 생각이 드는 모습입니다.  그러나 예수님꼐서는 이 사람에게 이름을 주셨습니다.  라자로라는 이름은 “하나님이 나를 도우신다”  라는 뜻이 있습니다.  라자로가 살아있을떄는 사람들이 아마도 그를 피했지만 라자로는 끝까지 하나님을 의지해서 죽고나서 천국의 축제에 참여하게 됩니다.  부자는 이땅에 살아있을때는 잘먹고 잘살았지만 바로 앞에 있던 라자로의 고통을 무시했고 죽고나서 영원한 고통에 빠지게 됩니다.  영원한 고통의 세계에 대해서 우리가 여기서 알수 있는것은 1. 목이 마른데 그 목마름을 해결할수가 없습니다.  2.  천국과 지옥사이에는 넘을수 없는 공간이 있습니다.  3.  부자는 그곳이 너무 고통스러워 자기의 형제들이 거기에 오지 않기를 바랍니다.   4.  이곳에 가지 않으려면 회개하고 하나님께 도움을 청해야 합니다.  5.  예수님꼐서는 만일 하나님이 보낸 선지자들을 믿지 않는다며 죽은자가 다시 살아나도 믿지 않을거라고 하셨습니다. 

There was a place called Gehenna where gargage was burned and it was place where worms and maggots crawled and smell of smoke and fire was sickening.  It was constant place of uncleanness.  Place of eternal torment is like this and if we are not cleansed from our sins, that's the place we will end up in.  Jesus came down to earth lived a life without sin proving with His miracles He is the son of God and died on the cross to pay for our sins so we don't have to end up separated from God forever in this place of torment.  Jesus’ resurrection three days after His death on the cross proved there is life after death and that He is the one and only Son of God.  Son of God chose to live a rather humble life. 

이스라엘에는 게헤나라는 곳이 있었습니다.  쓰레기가 계속 타고 있는 곳이고 지렁이와 r구더기가 항상 기어다니는 곳이었습니다.  항상 더러운 곳이었습니다.  죽음의 세계는 이와 유사한 곳이고 우리가 죄에서 깨끗함을 얻지 못하면 가게되는 곳입니다.  예수님은 우리가 이곳에 가지 않고 하나님과 영원히 함께 살게 하시기 위해 이땅에 오셔서 죄없는 삶을 사시고 기적들을 통해 하나님의 아들임을 증거하시고 십작가에 못박힘으로 인해 우리의 죄를 사해 주셨습니다.  예수님은 죽은지 사흘만에 부활하심으로 인해서 죽음 후에 삶에대에 증거 하셨습니다.  그리고 하나님의 하나뿐인 독생자임을 증거 하셨습니다.  그러나 하나님의 아들은 겸손한 삶을 사셨습니다.

Do you think good life starts with being born into a rich family?  Jesus was born in a humble manger, Joseph and Mary, although in the line of King David, were not wealthy for their sacrifice for their first born was “pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons”  (Luke 2:23-24)  Wouldn’t it have been more fitting to sacrifice a lamb for Jesus?  (Sorry Lord, Your way is perfect)

좋은 인생은 좋은 가정에서 태어나는 것이라 생각하십니까?  예수님은 마구관에서 요셉과 마리아, 왕의 혈통이었지만 가난해서  “산비둘기 한쌍 혹은 어린 집비둘기 둘로 제사하려 함이라” 누가복음 (2:23-24)  예수님을 위해서는 어린양을 제사해야 하지 않았을까?  (죄송합니다 하나님 당신의 행함은 완벽합니다.)

Do you think being famous and well known is the way to live the best life?  Up until He started His ministry, Jesus lived in anonymity, working with His hands as a carpenter. 

유명해지고 잘 알려지는것이 최고의 삶이라고 생각하나요?  예수님은 사역을 시작하기전까지 조용히 무명으로 목수로 일했습니다.

Do you think having a house of your own is a mark of a good life?  When Jesus started His ministry, He moved from place to place and said “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Mane has no place even to lay his head.   (Mathew 8:20) Do you think getting married and having children is a good life?”  Jesus died without having children from His own flesh “No one cared that he died without descendants,” (Isaiah 53:8NLT) 

내집 한채 마련하는것이 괜찬은 인생이라 생가가하나요?  예수님이 사역을 시작하시고 나서는 이곳저곳 다니시며 “여우도 굴이있고 공중의 새도 거처가 있으되 인자는 머리 둘 곳이 없다.” (마태복음 8:20) 라고 하셨습니다.  결혼해서 아이를 낳는것이 좋은 인생이라고 생각하나요?  예수님은 자신의 몸에서 난 자식 없이 생을 마감하셨습니다.   

Do you think good life means bringing beauty to the world?  Jesus didn’t possess beauty while on earth before resurrection “There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him.”  (Isaiah 53:2)  Do you think living a long and healthy life is our goal?  Unjustly “this life was cut short in midstream.” (Isaiah 53:8) Jesus died young, only in His early Thirties at the prime of His life.

세상을 아름답게 하는것이 좋은 인생이라고 생각 합니까?  부활하시기전 주님은 아름답지 않았다고 합니다.  “우리가 보기에 흠모할 만한 아름다운 것이 없도다.” (이사야 53:2)  건강하게 오래사는것이 좋은 삶인것 같나요?  “예수님은 불과 30대 초반, 한창일 나이에 목숨이 끊어지셨습니다.  (이사야 53:8)

 Do you think a good life is having faithful friends who come to your aid when you are in need?  Jesus died a criminal’s death rejected by His friends.

          내가 어려울떄 도와주는 진실한 친구를 만드는게 잘사는 삶인가요?  예수님은 범죄자의 죽음을 맞이핱때 친구들에게 버림을 받습니다.  

These are all delusions I struggle with myself so much so that I find that my Youtube algorithm brings up a lot of videos on health, wealth, and relationship.  However, only one thing is needed in this life, salvation.  Salvation from eternal death.

이것들는 저또한 항상 씨름하는 인생에 대한 허상들 입니다.  제 유튜브 알고리듬을 보면 건강, 돈, 관계에 대한 비디오가 줄이은것을 볼수 있습니다.  그러나 이생에서 우리에게 필요한것은 단하나 입니다.   구원.  영원한 죽음에서의 구원입니다.

When Jesus said, “it is finished” (John 19:30 NLT) What did he mean?  “Tetelestai comes from the verb teleo, which means "to bring to an end, to complete, to accomplish." It's a crucial word because it signifies the successful end to a particular course of action. It's the word you would use when you climb to the peak of Mt. Everest; it's the word you would use when you turn in the final copy of your dissertation; it's the word you would use when you make the final payment on your new car; it's the word you use when you cross the finish line of your first 10K run. The word means more than just "I survived." It means "I did exactly what I set out to do." Dr. Ray Pritchard wrote this in the blog titled “The meaning of Tetelestai-It is finished” on chrstianity.com.

예수님이 “다 이루었다” (요한 복음 19:30) 하셨을때 그리스언어로는 테텔레스타이인데 텔리오라는 동사에서 나온말로 “마무리하다, 완성하다, 성취하다 라는 뜻입니다.  이건 아주 중요한 단어인것이 하고있는 일이 성공적으로 마무리 됨을 뜻하기 떄문 입니다.  이 단어는 에버레스트 산 정상에 올랐을때, 논문을 다써서 제출할때, 자동차 살때 빚진 융자를 다 값을떄, 처음으로 달리는 10 킬로미터 경주를 완주 했을때 쓰는 단어이고.  “살아남았다”는 의미보다도 “내가 하고자 한 일을 해냈다”  는 뜻이다.  (이부분은 레이 크리처드 박사가 Christianity.com 에 쓴 블록 “델레스타이-다 끝났다 의 의미.” 에서 나온 내용 입니다.)

Jesus came down to earth to accomplish His work of salvation on the cross.  That was His goal and accomplishment.  Our accomplishment would be to believe and accept this work of salvation.  Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He has sent.” (John 6:29 NLT) If we do nothing else in this life but do this one thing, our life will be a success.   One more thing to do would be to share this with others so they can do that one thing.

예수님이 이땅에 오신것은 십자가에서 구원을 이루시려고 오신것이었습니다.  그것이 목표였고 성과입니다.  우리가 해야할일은 예수님이 이루어 놓으신걸 믿고 받아 들이는 것입니다.  “하나님꼐서 보낸이를 믿는것이 하나님의 일이니라.”   (요한복음 6:29) 고 예수님꼐서 말하셨습니다.  우리가 살면서 아무것도 못하고 이것만 하여도 우리는 성공하는겁니다.  해야 할게 하나 더 있다면 다른 이들에게도 알리는 것입니다.

I hope you will not miss out on that one thing you need to do before leaving earth because of all the good things of the earth satisfying you.  When Koreans are wronged by someone who has been greedy and selfish they say, “Eat well, and live well.”  It doesn’t sound like much of a curse, however, if you eat so well, and live so well you never cry out to God or accept His gift of salvation in your life, you are cursed forever. 

우리가 해야하는 그 한가지를 그저 이세상에 좋은 것들로 만족해서 놓치지 않기들 바랍니다.  한국사람들이 하는말중 이기적이고 자기 욕심만 채우는 사람에게 하는 말이 있습니다.  “잘먹고 잘 살아라.”  저주의 말 같지 않지만 만일 너무 잘먹고 잘살아서 하나님께 부르짖지 않고 복음을 받아드리지 않는 다면 당신은 영원한 저주를 받게 될것입니다.

There was a lukewarm church in Laodicea, and they were lukewarm toward Jesus because they were rich.  Jesus said to them “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”  {Revelation 3:20)  Will you open the door to Jesus?
    

라오디게아에 미지근한 교회가 있었습니다.  그들은 부했기 떄문에 예수님에 대한 태도가 미지근 하였습니다.  예수님은 그들에게 “볼지어다 내가 문 밖에 서서 두드리노니 누구든지 내 음성을 듣고 문을 열면 내가 그애개로 들어가 먹고 그는 나와 더불어 먹으리라.”  (요한 계시록 3:20)  예수님꼐 문을 열어 드리겠습니까?
